Sky’s the limit for special Air Ambulance Appeal

Good Relations Wales recently helped Wales Air Ambulance launch a special appeal that it hopes will raise millions of pounds for a New Generation of helicopters.

‘The £ Appeal’ has been launched to help Wales Air Ambulance generate the funds necessary to upgrade its helicopters to the New Generation model which it needs to do by 2009, as stipulated by Civil Aviation Authority legislation. With almost three million people living in Wales, the Charity is ‘Appealing for a £’ from each person to help towards reaching its target.

The charity has three helicopters in total covering all of Wales and it needs additional funds to pay for the £4million a year cost of keeping its three air ambulances flying.

Events were held throughout Wales announcing the new appeal and media coverage was gained in all the key regional Welsh newspapers including the Daily Post, South Wales Echo, Carmarthen Journal, South Wales Evening Post and the Western Telegraph. Broadcast coverage was also secured, amongst others, on BBC Radio Wales, Redragon and Swansea Sound / The Wave.

The New Generation helicopter will increase performance and provide the latest airborne facilities, technology and medical care that will go a long way to further improving the Air Ambulance Service’s excellent record of getting patients to hospital quickly and saving lives.
