Cardiff & Co, the organisation set up to promote Cardiff as a vibrant modern capital city, has announced that one of Wales’ best-known businesswomen is to join its Strategic Board. Noreen Bray is Chair of Good Relations Wales, the Welsh arm of the UK’s leading Public Relations Consultancy, the Bell Pottinger Group, and she established the company’s first office outside London in the Welsh capital nearly 20 years ago.
The news comes as Cardiff & Co celebrates its first year of operation as a not-for-profit public private partnership designed to gain recognition for Cardiff as a world class location for inward investment and both leisure and business tourism.
Commenting on the new appointment, Cardiff & Co Chairman, Bill Savage said
“It’s great that an individual of Noreen’s calibre is joining the Board. Noreen has a huge amount to offer and her broad range of skills and experience will strengthen our ability to promote Cardiff as the ideal city-region in which to invest, visit, live, study, shop and work. I’m looking forward to working with Noreen, as is our new Managing Director, Richard Thomas.”
Noreen Bray said that she was delighted to join the Board at such an exciting time for the city. “I have been very fortunate to be able to build my career here in my home city and it has been wonderful to see the huge progress that has been made in raising Cardiff’s profile in recent years. We mustn’t forget that it is still a very young capital city and my company is very proud to have been involved in many of the major developments that have helped change perceptions outside Wales including the Millennium Stadium and the Wales Millennium Centre.
“Wales needs to attract and retain the very best talent for the future and I hope that Cardiff & Co can play an important role in attracting the widest range of job opportunities. I look forward to working with my fellow Board members and all the company’s partners to maximise on Cardiff’s growing reputation as a city that offers something for everyone”.
