Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust
— Children's Hospital Celebration
Nearly a year after receiving its first young patients, the Children's Hospital of Wales staged a celebration event at which the guests of honour were the Hollywood super couple Catherine Zeta Jones and her husband Michael Douglas. The event attracted one of the largest media packs seen in Wales for many years and Good Relations played a crucial role in ensuring the reporters, photographers and video crews got what they wanted, whilst the celebrity couple were kept happy and that, above all, the work of the Children's Hospital could continue relatively unhindered.
Good Relations liaised between its long-term client, the Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust — which manages the Children's Hospital — the hospital, the Zeta Jones entourage, the Noah's Ark Appeal which had done so much to raise money to build the hospital and the media, including a strong paparazzi contingent.
The day went off without a hitch. Everyone was delighted — the media got the interviews, pictures and stories, the Zeta Jones' got the profile and coverage, the staff and fund raisers at the Children's Hospital saw their efforts rewarded and recognised and the patients and their parents got a day to remember.
