For every tonne of coal produced through the open cast mining 44 pence will be put into a ‘pot’ called the Tower Fund. This fund will add up to millions of pounds over the next seven years – and it’s all to be spent in the communities of Hirwaun, Penderyn, Penywaun and Rhigos. Anyone who lives in these areas can apply for a grant from the Tower Fund.
